नर्मदेच्या तीरावर कोणकोणती तीर्थं आहेत? तिथं कोणकोणत्या महापुरुषांनी, ऋषीमुनींनी तपस्या केल्या आहेत? त्यामागील इतिहास काय आहे? त्यांचा प्रभाव काय आहे? त्याठिकाणी शास्त्रशुद्ध पद्धतीनं आपण कोणत्या साधना कराव्यात? कोणती अनुष्ठानं करावीत? कोणती धर्मकर्मं करावीत? त्यांचं फळ काय आहे? तसंच मनुष्यजन्मात बाल्यावस्थेपासून तर वृद्धावस्थेपर्यंत आपल्या हातून कळत-नकळत शरीरानं, मनानं, स्वेच्छेनं-अनिच्छेनं, जी काही पापकर्म घडलेली असतात, त्यांचं क्षालन करण्यासाठी काय करावं? पूर्वी ऐतिहासिक काळात या सर्व गोष्टींचा अनुभव कोणी कोणी घेतला? कोणकोणत्या देवतेनं इथं तपस्या केली आहे? आणि त्याचं प्रमाण काय आहे? नर्मदेच्या तीरावर कोणी कोणी तीर्थं स्थापन केली आहेत? नर्मदेच्या तीरावर तीर्थाटन, परिक्रमा कशी करावी? त्याचे नियम काय आहेत? परिक्रमा कोण करू शकतो आणि कोण करू शकत नाही? या सर्व प्रश्नांची उत्तरं या ग्रंथात दिलेली आहेत.
